What is an escape room?
An escape room is a game in which you’ll have a limited amount of time to solve a mystery or otherwise “escape” from the area. To do so, you’ll search for hidden objects, discover secret doors, solve riddles—the possibilities are nearly limitless!
Escape rooms are primarily a mental activity, although some may incorporate physical challenges. Each room or game has a unique theme and story. You’ll be given some basic information about your objective, which will vary depending on the game you choose. After that, it’s up to you to figure out how to win the game! Don’t worry about getting stuck—the games are designed to be intuitive and you can always ask for a hint if you need one.
Will I actually be locked inside?
No. Most of the game doors are unlocked. The few that are locked have emergency exit buttons. In either case, you’re free to leave the game area at any time.
Will we be matched up with strangers?
No. All of our games are private, even before (and after) COVID.
How difficult are your games?
Our team at Cluemaster has collectively played more than 600 escape rooms. Based on that experience, we think that our rooms are somewhat more challenging than average, and our customers generally agree. All of our games have adjustable difficulty, described this way:
Easy: Designed for kids/teens 14 and under, and for adults who are new to escape games.
Medium: Recommended for older teens and adults who have some experience with escape games.
Hard: Not for the faint of heart! This is our most diabolical (but still fair) challenge for escape room experts.
Do you accept walk-ins?
As much as we’d love to accept walk-ins, logistical concerns prevent this. Our GameMasters are almost always running a game for another group or cleaning and resetting a room so that we stay on schedule. Our website does not permit same-day bookings with less than 2 hours’ notice, but we may have availability—please call 480-209-8645 to inquire.
When should we arrive?
Please arrive 15 minutes before your game begins. We need this time to brief you on how the game works, as well as to confirm that everyone in your group has signed the required waiver. If you are late, your group may be turned away—a single late game delays every group after yours.
What is your refund/cancellation policy?
You may cancel a reservation by clicking on the cancellation link in your confirmation email or by calling 480-209-8645. As long as you cancel at least 24 hours before your game time, you will receive a full refund. Cancellations made less than 24 hours prior to game start time are subject to a $100 cancellation fee per room (e.g., groups that book two different rooms and cancel both will be charged $200).
If your plans change less than 24 hours before game time, just give us a call as soon as you can. We’ll happily reschedule your game one time at no charge as long as you give us a heads up before your game is scheduled to start.
How do I pay?
We accept debit/credit cards or cash. All bookings must be secured with a credit or debit card. We will not charge your card until you check in for your game, at which time you may pay with cash or a different card if you prefer. For no-shows and for games cancelled less than 24 hours prior to game time, cards on file will be automatically charged a $100 cancellation fee per booked room.
What is the minimum age to participate in an escape room?
There is no minimum age, although some children under 12 may have a hard time working through the puzzles. All of our games can be made easier for young children or escape room newbies—just select “Easy” difficulty when you confirm your reservation.
Players under 18 must be supervised by at least one person 18 or older. Chaperones aren’t required to play (although they’re welcome to!), they just need to be in the building throughout the game.
Do I have to pay for my kids if they're very young?
Children under 6 years old are free of charge—don’t include them if you’re booking online. Tickets for children 6 and older cost the same as an adult ticket.
Can you accommodate birthday parties, corporate events, and other large groups?
Yes! Each of our rooms can only accommodate 6–8 players at one time, but for groups larger than 8, we’re happy to arrange simultaneous or back-to-back games—and to provide discounted pricing! Please give us a call at 480-209-8645 to make a reservation for groups of 9 or more.
Will we get to meet Cluemaster Max?
Maybe! Max is a real dog and he spends some of his time at Cluemaster, offering moral support as needed. He doesn’t keep a regular schedule, but if you really, really want to see him, let us know ahead of time. Max is often busy saving the world, so unfortunately, we can’t guarantee he’ll be available for your game, but we’ll try our best!
What are the conditions of your money-back guarantee?
As our Google reviews show, it’s extremely rare for our customers to have a bad time at Cluemaster. If it does happen, please contact us via phone, text, or email, let us know what’s wrong, and give us a chance to make it right. If we can’t, we’ll give you a full refund.
In order to be eligible for a refund, you must contact us in good faith and give us an opportunity to address your concerns. Customers who post negative reviews on Google, Yelp, or other platforms without first speaking with a manager or owner are not eligible to claim the 100% satisfaction guarantee.
Gift cards are refundable only within 7 days of purchase.
